Advice Columns (Lessons from Fallen Leaves)

Advice Columns, a poem:

Recently,

for no particular reason,

I started picking up leaves

from outside,

and then I put them all

on a big piece of paper

and thought to myself,

“advice columns.”

For the paper

was my question,

and the leaves

were each

an answer,

each showing me

in their own shape

what it means

to be

at this threshold,

between winter

and spring,

and with

the time

you have,

trying

to learn

to live.
