Collapse into the clearing of grace

Come running through the forest

of your thoughts

and collapse

into the clearing of grace.

Run through the wilderness

of who and what did not want you

and realize there is freedom for you

to still want better things.

It is okay to dream better dreams.

Even if what you lost

seemed to be everything.

Because the truth is,

you were always made for more.

You were always made to carry on

through the worst of things,

gathering all the strength you would need

to be who you are today.

Even when you were hurt along the way.

Even when you felt like a prisoner

in your very own mind, by grace,

you survived

and you still have permission

to roam free.

Roam free into the clearing.

Catch your breath.

Begin again.

You are allowed to do that.

You are allowed to want more

than these current feelings

and out in the clearing,

you are allowed to find healing.

to wake up falling

she knows

all too well

how it feels:

to wake up falling

never knowing

where you’ll land,

to start unraveling

never knowing

where you stand,

but now

With the same exact hands she used

to wipe tears from her eyes,

she stands tall

on the mountain now

and lifts them high to the sky

as she inhales and exhales

“it is well, it is well,

after all that I have lived,

I know I have

a story I will tell.”

Whenever you think of your past, may you do so with compassion.

Whenever you think of your past, may you do so with compassion. May you do so with grace and with truth that you are more than what happened to you. Because for you, so many of the things that have happened have been so far beyond your control. But even there, in the unsettled wild of it all, there is still freedom for you to let go. And this does not mean what happened is okay, and this is not to make any light of what has affected you in, painful life-altering ways. What letting go does is point to the beautiful reality that you are worthy of new life, new hope, new peace. And no matter your yesterday, you are worth the journey to keep going, anyway. –Morgan Harper Nichols

This is your story

this is your story;

through all of the lows

and all of the glory,

somehow, even here,

you have risen to this moment

second after second

you have done more

than survive

you have shown

to others

and yourself

what it means

to alive,

deep within the lowland

through the pain of the unplanned,

somehow, you found peace

in what you did not understand.

— Morgan Harper Nichols

It’s time to let it go, floating high over the hills.

It’s time to let it go,

floating high over the hills.

So you can finally breathe

and you can finally heal.

Let this be your farewell,

the story that you tell:

“I will rest

in this beautiful truth

that even though

my heart has felt

the weight of it all,

I learned how to fly.

I made it through.”

Let this be the song of February.

Let peace be as prevalent

as a warm sun

on a cold winter today.

Be reminded on days like this

that things won’t always be this way

and you will be okay.

Not perfect, but okay.
