1. DEEP INTO THE WILD
This piece was inspired by the word “guide.” Here’s a part of what I sent to the one I wrote it for:
The word that came to mind was “guide.” It means: to act as a guide to : direct in a way or course. I know that the course right now has led you to a place where you never imagined you would be, but even here, you are held. You are loved. Light is pouring in, giving you strength to get through. Even in the lowest darkest moments.
2. ENDLESS UNKNOWNS, ENDLESS GRACE
The word that came to mind for this piece was “need.” Here’s what I wrote to girl that it was for:
“Need means ‘to be in want.’ May this season of your life be one where you want more than anything is for God to lead you right where you need to be. It will be scary and uncertain at times, but in the end, it will always be worth it.” — Morgan Harper Nichols
3. IN THE WILD OF THINGS
The word that came to mind when I saw her comment was N E E D. Here’s a part of what I sent to her:
“Need means ‘to be in want.’ May this season of your life be one where what you want more than anything is for God to lead you right where you need to be. It will be scary and uncertain at times, but in the end, it will always be worth it.”
4. IN THE DEEPEST WATERS, I AM FREE
The word that came to mind for this piece was “free.” Here’s a part of I what I sent to the one I wrote it for:
One of the many definitions of this word is: “not bound, confined.” Often times, the unknowns we face in life leave us to feeling like we are the exact opposite of free. With this word, I hope you can be encouraged in knowing that even if there are moments where you do not feel free, because God gives His Love so freely to us, we are free to trust and believe that He will provide for us, even in deepest waters.
5. BREATHE: FINDING THE SPACE BETWEEN
The words I sent to the person I wrote this for:
The word that came to mind when I clicked on your name was “breathe.” One of the many definitions of this word is to inhale and exhale freely. In writing these words, I thought about how often times, the world is a crowded place, and it can feel impossible to breathe freely at times. I wrote a piece about inhaling and exhaling deeply from the word “breathe.” The artwork is inspired by the thought of being in a crowded space, but even there, there’s this white space in between things and it is there, as can take a breath, finding rest, in Him, throughout the day.
6. SPLITS THE SEA
Words I wrote to the one this piece was for:
The word that came to mind when I clicked on your name was “lead.” Lead means to guide on a way especially by going in advance. I love the bit about “going in advance,” because that’s exactly what God does for us. Not only does He know what is going to happen, but He goes before us, splitting the sea into so even when darkness is at our heels, He lights the path so we can walk right through.
The first word that came to mind was “shadow.” I know they may seem like a random word, but one thing I love about that word is that it means “partial darkness.” So often times when we feel like we can’t hear God, and that shadow hangs over, it can feel like we are cut off from the Light. However, that is never the case. We are always in His Light...even the shadows. Even when we feel like we can’t feel or see Him. He is there.
The shadow is only partial darkness...and no shadow of anxiety or uncertainty or anything else can cut us off entirely. As long as we know Jesus, we know Light, and we can keep going, keep trusting, even when we have no idea what’s going to happen in the near or distant future.
